While physicians are increasingly looking to test and reduce lipid related cardiovascular markers, many are also looking for safer and more natural ways to modify these risk factors. Diet and exercise are beneficial, but often aren't enough to bring these markers to recommended levels.
Triplichol packages the most widely studied lipid modifying natural agents available in aggressive and clinically tested doses to promote patients compliance.
Why These Natural Ingredients?
Omega-3 Fish Oils
The current American diet is laden with an overabundance of omega-6 fatty acids, and omega-3 fatty acids from fish are vital for the maintenance of fatty acid homeostasis. The role of fish oils in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular concerns, as well as its direct role in reducing triglycerides, is well researched. Less well known is its ability to stabilize arterial plaques which help decrease the risk of cardiovascular events.
First researched over 40 years ago, niacin continues to be one of the most studied, and most recommended, ingredients. Niacin is able to modify both LDL, HDL, triglycerides, Lp(a) and hs-crp in beneficial ways. The use of niacin is often limited by the bothersome side-effect of flushing in many of the patients taking therapeutic levels of instant release niacin. Our time-released form of niacin not only maintains the helpful lipid modification seen with instant release forms, it dramatically reduces the flushing effect allowing more people realize the benefits of niacin. Our wax-coated technology permits a release that is complete in 7-8 hours, considered ideal for time-released niacin.
First introduced as a food additive that prevented absorption of cholesterol, plant sterols/stanols are now approved by the FDA for a heart-health claim: “Products containing at least 0.65 g per serving of plant sterol esters, taken twice daily with meals for a daily total intake of at least 1.3 g, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease.” Plant sterols are often included as one of the leading non-pharmacological approaches to reducing total LDL cholesterol. However, it is difficult to obtain enough sterols from food sources on a daily basis to create a cholesterol-lowering effect. Two packets of Triplichol contain 1.3 g of plant sterol esters which work in the gastorintestinal tract to prevent dietary and biliary cholesterol absorptions, driving more LDL from the serum into the liver where it can be metabolized.
Pantethine is the precursor to cysteamine (a potent lipid-lowering metabolite) and pantothenic acid. Pantethine research from the ‘70s and ‘80s was ignored by most with the advent of statin drugs but this research has recently resumed with excellent results for cholesterol reduction. Additionally, pantethine has been shown to improve platelet function, endothelial responsiveness, and has overall antioxidant benefits. Much additional research is pending which is likely to show pantethine to be a leading natural modifier of cardiovascular risk factors.
